Spooktacular Sale!

Hi Everyone,
Boy am I ever having trouble staying caught up these days!
It's non-stop corrections and evaluations! I'm going a little bonkers here!
Please tell me I'm not the only one!!!!?!?!?!?! This year I added a fifth grade language arts class to my assignment, so I am teaching in two cycles and the materials are completely different! I'm loving both my grades but it is a lot of work! My blogging is suffering because of it!
I really want to try to blog more than once a week! I am going to do my best!
Report cards will be out of the way in the next two weeks and hopefully I will be able to devote more time to the blogging world!

So my all time favorite season of the year is here and I am loving every second of it! Although I dislike Canadian winters, I must admit that I truly appreciate the fact that we have four seasons and get to experience them all fully (weather wise that is!).

Just take a look at the view outside my bedroom window! I mean can it get any better than this?!?!

I looooooove it!

Now with Fall comes some of my favorite holidays! Thanksgiving and Halloween (I wrote them in this order specifically because Canadian Thanksgiving is of course at the beginning of October).

There is a wonderful sale on TpT and I have decided to join in on the fun! 20% off ALL my units including Halloween and Thanksgiving!

Stop on over to my STORE to grab yourself some great deals!
Here are some of the Fall treats you can find!

I still have some great freebies sitting on my desktop! I just need to upload them and post! I am aiming for the end of this week! My kiddies loved them and I want to share with all of you!

Until next time..

Halloween Craftivity

Hi Cyber Friends,
I'm so excited! I just posted a Halloween Craftivity!
It's awesome and involves stinky word poetry.

We call our masterpieces, "My Stinky Poem"
The kiddies loved it and they turned out amazing!

This craftivity is sure to have your students excited about poetry! In this 42 page package you will find:

- 4 craft templates (witch, werewolf, Frankenstein, and vampire)
- 1 poem example
- 1 fill in the blank poem with instructions (students add adjectives)
- 1 blank poem sheet with instructions
- 1 "final copy" stationary for edited poems
- Adjective cards to help with the writing process
- 1 synonym recording sheet
- 1 rhyming word recording sheet
- 1 alphabetizing recording sheet

Students will be introduced to the Halloween characters. Upon reading the example poem and explaining the format and instructions for the poetry writing process, the teacher will hand out adjective cards for the students to use. Students will create their very own Stinky Poem and publish it with a corresponding Halloween Craftivity.

Students can also use the adjective cards to find synonyms, rhyming words and place them in alphabetical order.

Numeration, Rounding, and a Freebie!

Dear Cyber Friends,

I am hoping to be able to blog more now that the beginning of the year is behind us! Hopefully the craziness will subside a little now. Ya right! Who am I kidding?!?!

This year my kiddies are using a textbook in math! Oh dear, this is quite the complicated task as they have never used a textbook before, nor a notebook for that matter. A simple task of writing the date and a page number can take up to almost 15 minutes!

As we work on acquiring these new skills, we also have to practice new math concepts! The textbook is great but not proving to be enough at this point and I am having to supplement with my own materials.

I have created two new units! Yay, I'm venturing into math now! And I also have a freebie for you!
All of these activities have been used in my classroom and have helped some of my kiddies reach the "Ah, Ha!" moment!

Here goes...

My numeration package focuses on representing numbers in various forms. Students work on representing numerals using base ten block, number words, expanded form and coins.
You can check it out RIGHT HERE!

My rounding numbers package focuses on (drumroll please) rounding numbers! Students can practice rounding to the nearest ten in both 2 digit and 3 digit numbers, as well as rounding to the nearest hundred in 3 digit numbers. Students will use such tools as a number line and even "round up" or "round down" jukebox!
Grab yourself a copy RIGHT HERE!

Finally, my kiddies needed to practice comparing and ordering! This was a much simpler task than expanded form and rounding numbers but I thought I'd make it a little more engaging by creating a simple Halloween activity.

Students receive a bag with 3 or 4 candy corn numbers and they must fill out the table by recording the numbers they have chosen, creating the greatest numeral possible with the numbers, creating the smallest number possible with the numbers and creating another random number. This activity also reinforced place value concepts as the students must recognize why a number is greater. When they are done with their bag of numbers, students can switch with their classmates and start the process over again.  You can grab a copy of this FREEBIE RIGHT OVER HERE!

Thanks for stopping by and be back soon!

Until next time...
